You may want to add an additional Flume device to your account if:

  • You have multiple water meters at your home (i.e. one for indoor and one for outdoor)

  • You have multiple homes (i.e. a main home and a vacation home)

  • You are a property manager, and you would like to monitor water usage at multiple properties

  • You upgraded from Flume 1 to Flume 2

  • You are installing a replacement device

You will need to purchase a separate Flume device for each water meter that you would like to monitor.

When installing a new device you must use both the new Bridge and new Sensor. The old Bridge cannot be paired with a new Sensor.

To add a new device to your account, click on the hamburger menu on the left-hand side. Select "Add Flume Device" from the menu.

You will be asked if you have checked to make sure your water meter is compatible, if you have already checked press yes and if not press no. If no is selected you will be asked to take a picture of your meter to check compatibility.

If you are upgrading from a Flume 1 to a Flume 2 or replacing a device you will be asked if you would like to copy over the location information from one of your existing locations, if you would like to do so, select yes, and if not select skip.

The Flume app will then walk you through the steps to add a new device starting with some basic information. You must name your new location something different than any of your current locations.

At any time during the process of adding a new device, you want to stop, click Cancel in the upper left-hand corner. You will be taken to a status page showing the status of each installation.

To continue an installation, just click on a location that is "In Progress".

If you would like your water usage transferred

You may want to transfer your water usage if you have replaced or upgraded your Flume with a new device. When upgrading to a Flume 2 device, follow the same steps as above. Once you complete your Flume 2 installation, the app will ask you if you would like to transfer your data from a previous location.

If you would like to have your water usage from your Flume 1 transferred over to your Flume 2, select "yes". Then, select the location you would like transferred. Before transferring your water usage, you'll be asked if you would like to delete your old location after the transfer.

Heads up: your custom budgets and custom usage alerts will NOT transfer over. You may want to manually transfer these over before deleting your previous locations.

Once you decide if you would like to delete your previous location, the data transfer will begin. The process will take about 3 minutes and does not require your app to be open.
