Every time your Flume records water usage, it labels that water usage as an "event.” These "events" are sorted into individual water appliances (shower, water softener, toilet, etc.) so that you're able to see just how much water your appliances are using! This feature is called Detail+ (learn more here).

If Detail+ mislabeled your usage as an appliance you do not have, please go to the Flume app > settings (3 horizontal lines in the upper left) > usage profile (ensuring only the appliances at your home are selected). Then, scroll down to the bottom and toggle 'Use this Data for your Appliance Breakdowns?' on, and click 'Save'. This will prevent Detail+ from mislabeling usage that is not applicable to your home.

How to update an event that was marked incorrectly using the Flume Portal

1. Log into your Flume account at: portal.flumewater.com.

2. Click the button that says ‘Review Events Labels’, located under your Detail+ pie chart.

*Breakdown values do not include usage from the current calendar day

3. Select the day you would like to review. Once you select a date, slide the edges of the green rectangle to select the specific time range you’d like to review.

*Note: each day on the calendar is color-coded with blue to represent the quantity of water used that day

4. Scroll down to see all events that occurred within the selected time frame. To show a specific appliance, use the dropdown selector to filter the list.

5. Once you have selected an event, click on the green event button, select the event type you would like to relabel and click ‘Confirm Label Update’. To cancel the relabeling, click the red X.

*Only appliances that Flume can currently break down will be available. If you don't see the appliance you are looking for, simply select either 'Outdoor' or 'Indoor' accordingly

How to update an event that was marked incorrectly using the Flume Mobile App

1. Log into your Flume mobile app.

2. Press the three barred menu in the upper left corner, and select 'Detailed' from the side menu.

3. Scroll to the middle of the page and select the yellow section below Detail+ Breakdown that says ‘Tap here to update incorrectly labeled usage’.

4. Tap the date of your choice at the top of the page to open the Calendar view.

5. Then, select the day you’d like to edit.

*Note each day on the calendar is color-coded with blue to represent the quantity of water used

6. Identify a Usage Event you would like to relabel, then slide the edges of the green selection rectangle left or right to create a selected area.

7. The app will then show you the labeled events that occurred within the selected area in a list below the graph. Use the dropdown menu to filter the list to show a specific appliance. Tap the appliance you would like to edit.

8. After you tap on an event, this panel will open from the bottom of the screen.

9. Select the usage category dropdown to change the label to the appropriate option. Then click ‘Save’ to update the label.

*Note: some appliance labels are not yet supported in our usage breakdowns. For example, “Soak Hose” will show up as “Outdoor” usage.

However, selecting appliance-specific labels will help our machine learning algorithm learn these appliances so we can identify them in the future.

We’re constantly working on expanding and perfecting our machine learning database. The more events we label correctly, the more appliances and details we can bring you!
