We have some exciting news for Flume users! Flume now supports integration with YoLink shutoff valves, adding an extra layer of protection to your home. With this new feature, users can seamlessly install a YoLink shutoff valve and connect it to the Flume app. This integration allows for automatic water shutoff whenever a leak rule is triggered, providing peace of mind and enhanced control over potential water damage. Users can choose which specific leak rules trigger the shutoff, ensuring a customizable and comprehensive water management solution.

Valves That Are Supported

Flume supports all YoLink shut-off valves. A YoLink Hub is required. Here are the three main valve options.

(Flume Recommended)

Description

The Bulldog Valve Robot is a "bolt-on" ball valve operator/manipulator. It is attached to an existing ball valve, and the motorized arm moves the valve handle open or shut, as required. Installation is simple, and takes 15 minutes or less using only a Phillips screwdriver.

The EVO Valve Operator is a "bolt-on" ball valve manipulator with an innovative attachment system. Instead of a "push/pull" method, the EVO replaces the ball valve handle and attaches directly to the valve shaft. This enhances efficiency and is better adapted for ball valves in poor conditions.

Integral smart motorized valve; stainless steel motorized water valve, with integrated smart controller and power supply.

Important: All the above valves require a YoLink Hub to work. The hub can be bundled with the valves at checkout.

If you require additional battery life (10+ years), the Bulldog and Evo valve can be purchased with the X3 valve controller which can be found here:

Installing the YoLink Shutoff Valve

While Flume provides robust support for integrating and utilizing these features within the Flume app, it is important to note that Flume does not assist with the physical installation of the YoLink shutoff valves. For any installation-related issues or technical assistance with the valves themselves, users should contact YoLink directly.

Integrating YoLink in the Flume App

Once you have a YoLink valve successfully installed you can easily integrate the valve within the Flume app.

First, navigate to Settings by clicking on the three-barred line in the upper left-hand corner of the app. Then select Integrations from the side menu.

From there you will see "YoLink", and select "I have installed a YoLink Shutoff Valve".

The Flume app will guide you through the following steps:

  1. Authenticating with your YoLink account to get permission to connect the devices

    1. If you already have the YoLink app installed you shouldn't have to re-login with YoLink

  2. Uploading an image of your YoLink valve to ensure it is set up correctly

  3. Ensuring that the Flume app can both close and open the valve

At the end of the integration verification flow, Flume will additionally generate you an insurance certificate. Many insurance companies offer discounts for Flume + shutoff, and this certificate will verify the integration is complete.

The final step allows you to choose which leak rules will trigger the water shutoff. See the image below:

In this example scenario:

  • "Flume Smart Leak Alert" will not shut off the water when triggered

  • "High Flow Alert" will shut off the water when triggered

You can adjust these usage alert settings at any time in the future.

Flume App Features

You can adjust which rules shut off the water at any time after completing the integration by navigating to Settings -> Usage Alerts.

If you click on a usage alert rule you will see the option to enable/disable "Shut Off Water".

If you have "Shut Off Water" enabled for a usage alert rule and the rule gets triggered, the notification you receive will indicate that water has been shut off.

Currently, if the water is shut off, you will need to turn it back on in the YoLink App. Our next app release will bring the ability to turn your water on/off from the Flume App dashboard.
