Flume now offers customer replaceable battery packs! Please refer to this guide for replacing the batteries in your battery pack and getting your Flume up and running again.

Materials Needed

  • Black Battery Pack

    • The ribbon may be red, black, or blue

    • Batteries may be blue or gray

  • Scissors

  • 4 new lithium-ion batteries (ideally Energizer)

Step 1 - Turn Battery Pack on Side

  • Turn the battery pack on its side as shown below.

Step 2 - Cut Shrink Wrap

  • Make one cut on the shrink wrap on the left and one cut on the shrink wrap on the right.

  • After cutting the shrink wrap, the battery pack should look like the following:

Step 3 - Remove Shrink Wrap and Old Batteries

Step 4 - Replace Batteries in the Pack

  • The “-” end of the battery always goes towards the spring.

  • Make sure to put the top battery “within” the ribbon on both sides. The bottom battery should not go “within” the ribbon.

Step 5 - Place Battery Pack in Water Sensor

Align the +/- on the battery to match the +/- indicators in the Sensor. Insert the battery and press down.

Once inserted, you will see a blink sequence that ends with a green blink.

Step 7 - Clean the Sensor

  • Clean the Sensor's seal, then close the lid.

  • Make sure the lid clicks closed, and there is nothing pinched in the seal.

Step 8 - Reattach the Sensor to the Water Meter

  • Reattach the Sensor to the water meter in the same position as it was before removal.

  • The Sensor should be parallel to the pipes, about even with the top of the meter, and securely attached. For more information on Sensor placement, click HERE.

Step 9 - Recalibrate

  • Recalibrate your Flume by going to the Flume app > Menu (3 lines in the upper left) > Settings > Other Troubleshooting > Recalibrate Water Sensor.

  • Water usage will NOT report unless a successful calibration is completed.

  • For more information on recalibrating, click HERE.
